Family Advocate – Nelson County – Full Time, 40 Hours per week

Responsible for the following job duties:

• Provide ongoing support to families who have children enrolled in Head Start or public preschool classrooms.
• Assist, encourage, and support caregivers as they foster the growth and development of their children.
• Provides caregivers with any information they may need in the areas of health, parent-child relations, community resources, adult educational, and vocational services, etc.
• Utilizes home visits, groups, workshops, and/or other forms of communication in order to support the families they work with and connect them to resources.
• This position will work specifically with Nelson County and is eligible to be a remote position. Provide ongoing support to families who have children enrolled in Head Start or public preschool classrooms.

Successful candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred or AA degree or equivalent degree required, preferably in social work, psychology or related field or Family Development Credential
• 2 years experience providing social or educational services to low-income and culturally diverse populations.
• Experience in working with or providing services to children and families
• Experience and humility to work with the culturally diverse populations present among the local community
• Ability to organize time effectively to meet assigned work demands
• Ability to express and transmit ideas and knowledge clearly
• Ability to evaluate own performance, capabilities, limitations and biases with reasonable self-reflection
• Current and valid driver’s license and maintain at all times a motor vehicle insurance policy that carries at least the minimum limits of liability of $300,000 combined single limit or $100/300/100 split limits ($100,000 per occurrence, $300,000 per accident for bodily injury, $100,000 per accident for property damage)

Training will be provided.

Compensation/Benefits:
• Salary: starting at $42,140
