Description
Recruitment and Training Coordinator: The position is responsible for the management and implementation of the process by which Piedmont CASA (PCASA) recruits, screens, selects, and trains Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). The Recruitment and Training Coordinator will be a public face for Piedmont CASA networking with community partners and others. This position will specifically focus on making progress on the recruitment and training goals outlined in Piedmont CASA’s Strategic Plan and Equitable Impact Plan with a focus on creating connections with under-represented communities and increasing diversity among Advocates in accordance with PCASA values. The Recruitment and Training Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining a limited caseload of CASAs and serving as a CASA Supervisor as needed.
This is a full-time salaried position eligible for benefits and paid leave.
Job Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and participate in the recruitment, screening, training, and support of CASA advocates. Develop and implement an outreach plan focused on recruiting CASA advocates in particular those from underrepresented backgrounds:
1. Participate and encourage participation in community outreach/volunteer recruitment efforts;
2. Build relationships with community stakeholders and participate in networking activities;
3. Respond to volunteer inquiries with the Program Director;
4. Conduct regularly scheduled Information Sessions along with the CASA Supervisor team and Program Director;
5. Conduct interviews with prospective volunteers with CASA Supervisor team;
6. Process volunteer applications and background checks, and enroll volunteers in Pre-Service Training;
7. Oversee the planning and execution of Pre-Service training;
8. Oversee the planning and execution of In-Service training with the President and Program Director;
9. Assure adherence to written policies and procedures and that PCASA follows best practices and meets or exceeds the relevant requirements of Virginia Code and Virginia Administrative Code;
10. Confirm that the CASA Manager Database information and other statistical data are up to date, appropriately entered and complete;
11. Review data reports and analysis for grants and reports and participate in developing grant submissions as requested.
Maintain a limited caseload of CASAs and serve as a CASA Supervisor, as needed, to include:
1. In partnership with other team members, respond to referrals from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts;
2. Provide supervision and support to CASA advocates for the duration of each case;
3. Adhere to PCASA’s case management and data tracking protocols;
4. Be an active resource for assigned volunteers. Provide individual supervision on an “as needed” basis with a minimum of one supervisory contact every month; and,
5. Ensure adequate case coverage in the absence of the volunteer or during process of case assignment.
Professional Development expectations:
1. Participate in PCASA pre-service Volunteer training;
2. Pursue professional development opportunities; and
3. Attend relevant training as time and funding permits.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the President.
Skills Required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The Recruitment and Training Coordinator should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to carry out the responsibilities of the position:
1. Demonstrated affinity for the mission of Piedmont CASA;
2. The ability to work cooperatively with different personalities and individuals of diverse racial/economic/cultural backgrounds;
3. The ability to work in an environment that demands strict confidentiality, discretion and good judgment;
4. Personable professional with rapport building skills;
5. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines;
6. Superior oral and written communications skills;
7. Superior organizational and time management skills;
8. A team player who values collaboration;
9. Skilled public speaker and trainer with an ability to prepare, coordinate, and facilitate a training for adult learners from start to finish;
10. Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google suite, and Powerpoint: and,
11. Flexible schedule to allow for some night and weekend work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience as a CASA or participation in CASA training;
2. Experience or training as an educator;
3. Experience in volunteer recruitment and management;
4. Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families relating to child abuse and neglect; knowledge of child development; knowledge of the impact of trauma on children, youth and adults; and,
5. Knowledge of the child welfare, education and/or court systems.
Work Schedule
Full-time. Office hours are M-F 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Some evenings and weekends may be necessary.

Location: This role will be based out of our office in Charlottesville. Remote work is possible dependent upon PCASA policy, the position, and approval by supervisor after a probationary period.
Salary and benefits: The starting salary for this position is $52,500. Generous annual, health, and personal leave are available in addition to the office being closed for all federal holidays and typically the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
