Description

Executive Director, Wintergreen Adaptive Sports
Here’s rare opportunity to take the helm of Virginia’s leading adaptive snow sports program and one of the national pioneers in providing on-snow opportunities for people with disabilities. Located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains just 45 minutes from Charlottesville, Wintergreen Adaptive Sports, in its fourth decade of operation, is seeking a new executive director to keep the in-demand and highly popular program moving full speed ahead. Wintergreen Adaptive Sports, or WAS, is the premier Virginia destination for families with a skier or snowboarder who needs extra attention on the mountain. The successful candidate will oversee a program stocked with dozens of enthusiastic volunteers, a strong financial footing, a handful of dedicated and competent staff members, and legions of supporters and families who routinely sing the program’s praises.
The director’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Being a cheerleader for the program, including conducting regular community and donor outreach, speaking at community events, participating in special events, communicating with schools and community programs to host visits, and generally being an energetic WAS ambassador.
• Raising funds and procuring grants.
• Ensuring volunteer instructors and the small cadre of seasonal staff are well-trained in the basic operations of an adaptive snow sports program.
• Overseeing – and delegating as appropriate – the general operations of WAS, including upkeep of the building and equipment, volunteer and student scheduling, and the operation of a small summer paddling program.
This position carries a salary between $50-55K plus a stipend in lieu of health insurance. Please send all inquiries to info@skiwas.org.
