DIRECTOR OF FINANCE AND HUMAN RESOURCES

ASC is looking for a candidate to direct and manage the organization’s business activities and to develop and implement effective business strategies. A full-time salaried position, the Director of Finance and Human Resources will be a vital member of the leadership team responsible for financial management, human resources, contracts, and facilities oversight. ASC seeks an experienced professional with the capacity to hit the ground running and to grow with us.

Reports directly to the Board of Trustees

Salary: $60,000-$63,000, commensurate with experience

Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Prepare comprehensive budgets in collaboration with staff for approval by the Board of Trustees.

Monitor all progress on and significant variances from budgetary goals and objectives and make timely reports to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and the Chair of the Finance Committee.

Report the financial results of all activities of ASC to the Finance Committee and Chair of the Board of Trustees on a monthly basis.

Approve or delegate approval of all routine monetary expenditures up to a limit designated by the Board of Trustees.

Oversee and prepare timely and accurate materials for the ASC’s annual audit.

Negotiate and approve all non-artistic contracts and leases on behalf of ASC, unless otherwise delegated or limited by the Board of Trustees.

Manage all vendor relationships, unless otherwise delegated.
Ensure compliance with all sources of funding, including, but not limited to public funding and private grants, and all regulatory requirements.

Manage rights and licensing for productions as needed.
Supervise Finance Assistant.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Process new hire documentation.

Assist in orientation and training of new personnel.

Maintain personnel records and leave reports.

Serve as ASC’s first contact for all HR and personnel related questions and/or complaints.

Receive, investigate, and assist in resolving employee complaints in accordance with ASC policy and applicable state and federal law.

Oversee and report to the Board of Trustees any necessary disciplinary action in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Board of Trustees.

Keep ASC management and Board of Trustees informed in a timely manner regarding any significant employee-related matter or complaint.

Process and oversee necessary reports and correspondence regarding the Virginia Employment Commission, the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission, and any other applicable state or federal employment related agencies.

Coordinate with ASC payroll and accounting personnel to appropriately manage employee benefits-related withholding and policies.

Administer annual performance evaluations.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry personnel contracts and insurance agreements.

Endeavor to maintain a work environment that supports the recruitment and retention of high-quality personnel.

Fulfill these responsibilities within the policies and procedures established by the Board of Trustees for employing, evaluating, and terminating personnel.
