Description

The PHAR Community Organizer’s primary responsibilities are to support resident leadership, coordinate the day-to-day operations of community organizing, and to implement and win PHAR organizing campaigns to improve the lives of public housing residents. This position will also include coordination of the PHAR Internship Program, PHAR’s civic participation and leadership development program. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. It is a full-time salary position. This position requires frequent evening meetings and occasional weekend work.

Job Duties

-Flyer, doorknock, and conduct surveys to ensure residents gain knowledge and access to opportunities to participate
-Coordinate all aspects of PHAR’s six-month Internship Program
-Develop relationships with residents, community supporters, and decision-makers
-Encourage the leadership skills and civic participation of public housing residents
-Help individual residents solve their housing challenges
-Participate in meetings with residents, City and Housing Authority officials, coalitions, etc., and
-Other duties as requested.
