Description

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is committed to the success of its transformation plan to bring a balanced approach of comprehensive services that prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency through partnerships with families, schools, communities, law enforcement, and other agencies. This plan will provide an opportunity for delinquent youth to develop into responsible and productive citizens.

DJJ is currently recruiting for a Fiscal Technician position in the 16th District Court Service Unit to continue the work of this plan in support of the agency’s mission. The 16th Court Service Unit provides domestic and delinquent intake services, juvenile probation, and parole services to the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Goochland, Louisa, Fluvanna, Greene, Madison, Culpeper and Orange. This position will report out of the Charlottesville/Albemarle branch. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative, fiscal and clerical duties to support the daily operations of the 16th District Court Service Unit. The fiscal technician will play an important role in remaining up to date regarding regulations, policies and procedures, providing fiscal support, budget preparation and requests, procurement and record keeping, administrative, and clerical duties in the daily operations of a very fast-paced office environment.

Job Duties

The incumbent must have experience working in a fast-paced office setting, Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices. Working knowledge of preparing budgets, procurement, financial reports, statements and record keeping. Knowledge with interpreting and applying basic policy and procedures. Considerable skill in keyboarding and operating Microsoft Office Suite, Google, and other software applications. Demonstrated experience in analyzing, problem solving, and attention to detail. Excellent writing skills. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating. Experience in providing exceptional customer service with a focus on effectively building and fostering relationships with the general public and all levels of employees.

The preferred candidate will have an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent clerical training. Previous experience working in a court service unit or similar. Advanced experience with creating and managing financial reports.
