Trina Willard

Trina Willard, founder Knowledge Advisory Group, provides organizations with program evaluation and measurement services which inform business planning and future organizational development. Trina’s methods typically focus on the implementation and effectiveness of programs, policies, and procedures that help clients guide decisions with the power of information. Her approach emphasizes identification and measurement of program outcomes, as well as input from all organizational stakeholders as keys to continued growth and improvement.

Trina has successfully applied these concepts and techniques in government, nonprofit, and business settings. Her measurement expertise has benefited clients in a variety of content areas, such as human services, public education, software enhancement, court administration, employee development, and marketing.

Susan Wilkes

Susan Brock Wilkes, Ph.D., is the founder and managing partner of Wilkes Consulting, a leadership development firm specializing in nonprofit organizations. Susan is an organizational psychologist with extensive experience in executive coaching, leadership and team dynamics, board governance, and strategic planning. Currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Richmond, she received the 2022 Innovations in Teaching Award.

Susan has been voted as Instructor of the Year for Richmond, Virginia’s Nonprofit Learning Point and served for 15 years as the lead faculty for its successful Emerging Nonprofit Leaders Program. A co-creator of a specialized assessment coaching process for fund development professionals, Susan is also the author of four experiential earning tools published in the Pfeiffer Annuals. Her community engagement is extensive, including service as Board Chair for Health Brigade, as a Board Member for the Innerwork Center, and on the founding leadership team for Impact 100 women’s philanthropy program.

Susan’s latest publication is “Strengthening the Next Generation: A Multi-faceted Program to Develop Leadership Capacity in Emerging Nonprofit Leaders” in the Journal of Nonprofit Management and Leadership. A Phi Kappa Phi graduate of the doctoral program at Virginia Commonwealth University, Susan also holds an undergraduate degree in psychology, with distinction, and masters’ degree in counseling from the University of Virginia. Susan is a certified teacher in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self Compassion. Her most recent certification is as a Dare to Lead facilitator with the Brene’ Brown Education and Research Group.

Katherine Whitney

Katherine Whitney has over 25 years of experience in helping organizations reach their potential. Most of Katherine’s work involves understanding the current position of an organization and working with its staff, management, board members, and other supporters to determine strategic direction and to create an approach to implement that strategy. Katherine uses the strategic direction of the organization to support board development, mergers, and succession plan and executive director/CEO searches.

Katherine works across a number of nonprofit sectors. Her approach for an engagement is tailored to each organization with particular attention given to the organization’s culture.

Cindy Colson

Cindy Colson serves as the Deputy Director of Partnerships and Consulting at CNE, where she oversees the development and delivery of a wide range of programs and services across Virginia. With extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, Cindy specializes in executive leadership development and board governance training. She works closely with nonprofits to foster governance and programmatic practices that are relevant, responsive, culturally informed, and ethically grounded. Her efforts advance CNE’s mission to create equitable, thriving, and just communities, driven by strong and healthy nonprofit organizations.

Cindy earned her BIS from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Mary Washington.

Sarah Milston

Starting her career for nonprofits focused on fundraising, marketing, and board development, Sarah left to build a varied and diverse consulting practice focused on strategic planning and nonprofit sustainability. Whether a guide, instigator, or knowledge base Sarah is passionate about connecting the dots and giving people the right plan and tools to make stuff happen. Over the last eight years as a consultant, Sarah has worked with over 100 associations, nonprofits and businesses to help at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and action. Sarah is an active speaker and trainer around the Mid-Atlantic region on all aspects of strategic planning, nonprofit sustainability, and marketing. When she isn’t at work she wrangles two very different young girls with the hope of raising good humans.

J. Michael Foreman

Mike brings over 30 years experience in facilitation, strategic planning, leadership and team-building to both governmental and not for profit organizations. He has conducted hundreds of facilitation and planning events during his career. Read more… Mike has taught the Leadership portion of the now 20 year old Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute, a collaborative effort with the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and state government. Mike is an adjunct faculty with the Wilder School of Government at Virginia Commonwealth University, Performance Management Group. Mike is a certified mediator with the Virginia Supreme Court and has assisted CNE since 2016.

Delores Kimbrough

Delores Kimbrough is the founder and principal consultant for Kimbrough Consulting. Delores specializes in the art of facilitation, increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion organizational capability, strategic planning, and connecting people through inclusive dialogues. As a diversity, equity, and inclusion professional, Delores helps organizations develop a climate of inclusion! As an expert facilitator, Delores designs and facilitates group experiences for corporate, nonprofit, and higher education organizations! Delores has worked with executive leaders, elected officials, and community leaders at all organizational levels. She has a reputation for bringing deep listening, insightful questions, strategic focus, flexibility, encouragement, and good humor to every engagement!

Karen Klick

Karen Klick of Klick Consulting partners with clients to advance their missions, combining supportive frameworks and creative solutions with practical and grounded experience. Before she began consulting in January 2020, Karen served mission-driven, social purpose businesses for 24 years, including as Deputy Director with Piedmont Housing Alliance, Co-Director of the Fair Housing Partnership at the Fair Housing Council of Greater Washington (now Equal Rights Center), and attorney for a civil rights law firm. As a nonprofit professional, she provided leadership and innovation in strategy and planning, program design and evaluation, resource development, capacity building, and team support and development. Karen earned an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University with a capstone project on Program Impact and Evaluation, and she is a graduate of VCDC’s Mission Elevation/Nonprofit Sustainability Challenge program that focused on achieving excellence in financial sustainability and mission impact. Karen is a certified coach through the Academy of Creative Coaching and a member of the International Coaching Federation. She earned her JD from American University’s Washington College of Law and majored in Economics at the University of Virginia. Karen currently serves on the Board of New Hill Development Corporation as Vice President and has also served on the Board of The Arc of the Piedmont.

Cheryl Groce-Wright

Cheryl Groce-Wright is  Founder and CEO of Kaleidoscope Collaborative, a Richmond-based consulting firm serving as a proactive and effective champion for racial equity, community engagement, and inspired citizens.  Kaleidoscope’s mission is to co-create community empowerment alongside resident leaders, stimulate and facilitate racial justice and equity conversations and relationships, and individuals and leaders with an emphasis on positive intelligence and soul care for social sector professionals. Cheryl is also an avid runner having completed numerous half and full marathon races and currently serves as Head Coach of Richmond’s Sports Backers Half Marathon Training team and also directs a Jeff Galloway Training program in Richmond. She is the proud mother of two sons, Nigel 25 and Carson 22.
