Position: Board Member

Nathan Walton

Rev. Dr. Nathan Walton is Co-Lead Pastor at East End Fellowship in Richmond, Virginia.  He most recently served as Executive Director of Abundant Life Ministries, a community development nonprofit in Charlottesville, and has also served as Pastor of Formation and Discipleship at Charlottesville Vineyard Church.  Nathan holds a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School and both a B.A. and Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia.  His interests include community development, theology, and parish ministry.  Nathan currently lives in Richmond with his wife, Diamond, and their two daughters, Esperanza and Vera Mae.

Jean Runyon

Jean Runyon joined Piedmont Virginia Community College as the College’s sixth president in July 2022. Prior to accepting the presidency, Dr. Runyon served in progressively responsible leadership positions at Front Range Community College (Colorado), Anne Arundel Community College, and the College of Southern Maryland. Runyon holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education in Education Technology Management from Northcentral University, Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bloomsburg University.

Marcia Marsh

Marcia was the Chief Operating Officer for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-US). As COO, she oversaw the execution of WWF’s strategy and operating systems and led government affairs and policy, private sector engagement, development and marketing and communications efforts. Building on her prior consulting career, Marcia served as one of the WWF global network’s lead change managers, helping to align people, processes, and technology with an ambitious strategy to bring conservation to scale. With a personal passion for community service, she helped to launch and drive the CARE/WWF Alliance, an innovative partnership that is creating new models of addressing poverty alleviation, food security and conservation in one holistic approach.

Before WWF, Marcia was a Price Waterhouse tax partner, Practice leader for Integrated Solutions and International Consulting at Watson Wyatt and the Vice President for Government Transformation at the Partnership for Public Service.

Craig Lindqvist

Craig Lindqvist serves as the Associate Dean for Administration at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia where he oversees the school’s business affairs, planning, finances, personnel, technology, facilities, and other non-academic functions.

Prior to joining the Batten School in 2020, he served in a variety of senior leadership roles at CFA Institute where he led global functions including strategic planning, global business operations, market intelligence and business analytics, financial planning & analysis, local chapter technology development and operations, and other business services. He began his professional career as an avionics engineer for The Boeing Company before serving in the U.S. Navy as a supply corps officer, where he developed practical experience in leadership, financial management, personnel administration, and supply chain logistics. He went on to receive a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master’s degree in systems engineering at the University of Virginia.

Rahul Keshap

Rahul is a long-time Charlottesville resident and has his own law practice, Shuru Law, serving start-ups and non-profits in Virginia and Washington DC. In addition, Rahul is the Executive Director of Venture Central. Prior to this, Rahul worked for more than fifteen years at CFA Institute, including two years working in Asia-Pacific with the organization’s office in Hong Kong. Rahul also volunteers with the Community Investment Collaborative and tries to keep up with his wife and three children.

Marta Keane

Marta has been the CEO of JABA since April 2013. She came to JABA as COO in the Fall of 2012. She has made collaboration a focus of her tenure- both internal and external. The opportunities grow as JABA works to help people age in community, through providing services and support along the continuum of aging. Marta has been involved in the creation of the Charlottesville Area Alliance- working toward an age-friendly community. Marta was recently elected as President of the Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging.

Marta received her bachelors, majoring in Psychology and Sociology, from the University of Virginia; masters in speech-language pathology from UVa; and post-grad work in audiology with a minor at Darden at UVa. In 2014, she attended The Executive Program at Darden.

Christine Jacobs

Christine is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) where she is responsible for overseeing the financial, programmatic, and administrative functions of the organization.  Prior to serving in the Executive Director role, Christine was the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Housing at the TJPDC. In addition to serving in various roles at the TJPDC, Christine served 1.5 years as the Executive Director of the Thomas Jefferson Community Land Trust where she worked to increase the supply of permanently affordable homes in the City of Charlottesville.

Christine currently serves in various leadership positions to include: Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development Ex-Officio board member, GO Virginia Region 9 Council board member, Center for Nonprofit Excellence board member, Jaunt Ex-Officio board member, and Charlottesville Area Alliance board member.

Prior to working at the TJPDC, Christine had a successful 15-year career as an educator.  She graduated with a Master of Public Policy from the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia (2017) and holds a Master of Teaching degree from the University of Virginia (2001).  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech (1999).

Nicole Hawker

Nicole Hawker, a native of Charlottesville, is the Founder of Heart and Soul Fitness. She received her BA in Counseling from Johnson University in Knoxville TN along with her MA in Professional Counseling.  Nicole spent over 15 years serving families and children through counseling and social work, specifically as it relates to the foster care system. In 2022, she opened Heart and Soul Fitness, a nonprofit studio, with her husband and adult children to provide physical fitness and wellness resources for the greater Charlottesville community who may not have access to higher priced fitness studios. Nicole is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Yoga Teacher, and CrossFit Level 1 Coach. She is a graduate of the Leadership Charlottesville Class of 2019, CNE Board Academy Class of 2023 and served one year on the Lake Monticello Home Owners Association.  Nicole is the mother of 3 adult children and has been married to her best friend for 30 years!

Kaki Dimock

Kaki is a social worker, friend to animals, and artist with a BA in Sociology from Vassar College and an MSW from Columbia University. She has divided her professional life between local government settings and nonprofits. She values authenticity, humor, and connection and believes we are always better together in community.

Shirley Davis-Carter

Shirley Davis Carter joined Augusta Health as Vice President of Philanthropy and Executive Director of Augusta Health Foundation in December 2021.  Her key responsibilities include providing executive leadership to the August Health Foundation and partnering with all stakeholders to advance the mission of Augusta Health through philanthropy. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of the Carris Health Foundation (Willmar, MN) and the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital Foundation (Iowa Falls, IA). Shirley is a Rotarian and Certified Fund Raising Executive. She has completed a Post Graduate Administrative Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and holds an MBA from Our Lady of the Lake University and a BBA from the University of Liberia.
