Description

Responsible for the residential treatment and care of participants in a residential setting and or community based settings; does related work as required. Primarily and most frequently the work done here is under general supervision, with related functional areas and more advanced applications.
The Residential Services Division provides support during all hours of the day and night. Due to this, we are looking for a candidate who is willing and able to have their schedule vary on a monthly basis, which could include weekends, evenings, day, and overnight shifts.
The Attention Home is a co-ed group home located in Downtown Charlottesville. The program serves adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18. The program provides a supportive but structured environment for children who have experienced difficulties at home, school and in the community. Residents may be accepted for temporary, emergency and regular placements. Individualized treatment includes counseling, therapy, building practical skills, and responsibility.
Long term temporary jobs are not guaranteed to but are expected to continue for more than 12 months. This position may be approved to be converted to a regular budgeted position in the future. If that occurs, the incumbent will be eligible to convert from temporary to regular status.

Skills Required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. (Minimally, a high school diploma or GED plus four years of highly relevant experience may be substituted as equivalent.)
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in the field of human services.

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or qualified and able to obtain a valid VA driver’s license prior to beginning the position. Proof of insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for experience in the care and treatment of adolescents.
