The United Way seeks a highly motivated, self-starter who enjoys working with the public and community volunteers and coordinating a variety of projects.

This position welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries; and, directs and provides instructions for visitors by maintaining employee, project and community agency directories. As project coordinator, the position serves as the point person to plan, oversee and document all aspects of specific projects. Projects will be planned and coordinated with the management team to determine the scope and direction and to ensure projects are executed efficiently, effectively and on schedule.

Job Duties

This position welcomes visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries; and, directs and provides instructions for visitors by maintaining employee, project and community agency directories. As project coordinator, the position serves as the point person to plan, oversee and document all aspects of specific projects. Projects will be planned and coordinated with the management team to determine the scope and direction and to ensure projects are executed efficiently, effectively and on schedule.
Broadly, responsibilities include:
• providing information and referral, maintaining appropriate human resource guides, promoting Cville Tax Aid, and scheduling tax appointments;
• maintaining CvilleVolunteer.org, working with corporate groups for service projects, outreach to support volunteerism for local organizations, outreach and coordination of Mentor Tutor fair and other volunteer fairs, and professional development of Charlottesville Area Association of Volunteers;
• executing United Way Day of Caring by recruiting volunteer teams and agency and school projects, training for team leaders, and orchestration of the event.

Skills Required

Ideal Candidate will possess the following qualities/qualifications:
• bilingual English/Spanish
• exceptional interpersonal skills
• proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
• strong organizational skills
• ability to collaborate with colleagues and/or work independently as needed
• ability to adapt as the organization evolves
• associate college degree or higher preferred

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5PM.
