Description
This exciting new opportunity is the result of expansion of our broadcast network which will extend from Harrisonburg to Hampton Roads. Under the supervision of the Development Director, this role will assist in securing underwriting and sponsorship of radio programming, WNRN events, and initiatives across multimedia platforms. This new position will ensure messages are consistent with public broadcasting industry standards and WNRN’s branding.
Job Duties
Essential Functions:
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, closes, and maintain new and renewing community business partners including cash and trade accounts for all forms of program distribution, including on-air, online, streaming, podcasts, events.
- Contacts clients through direct face-to-face contact, sustained relationships, and cold calling throughout the business community.
- Achieves sales goals as set by the Director of Development.
- Negotiates underwriting and marketing packages, pricing, terms, and on-air (radio) copy that conforms to FCC regulations.
- Engages the community at large; attends occasional community meetings or other functions as appropriate to support client cultivation and stewardship.
- Maintains accurate files for all contacts
- Assists with other organizational activities as directed.
Skills Required
Qualifications:
- Prior sales, fundraising, and/or nonprofit experience required.
- Highly motivated and able to develop new client relationships through personal initiative, networking and referrals from existing clients
- Time and priority management
- Proficiency with standard office productivity software or willingness to learn
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in-person and online, with the ability to write and present in a professional and motivating manner
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other staff members
- Experience with public media or public radio sales preferred.
Work Schedule
Position is hybrid and requires 25-50% daytime travel within the broadcast area.
