Facilities Management at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for our highly regarded Trades Apprentice Program.  The University of Virginia’s Apprentice Program began in 1982 and was the first Apprentice Program to be started by a state agency.  This unique opportunity provides an opportunity to learn a trade while working as a full-time employee at U.Va. Apprenticeships are full-time, paid positions with UVA benefits. Apprentices learn their selected trade through a combination of on-the-job training, technical education and classroom instruction over a four-year training period. This training is fully paid for by Facilities Management. All Apprentices support Facilities Maintenance’s goal of providing consistent, cost effective, efficient, and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities.

Online applications for this year’s Apprentice positions will be accepted from April 1 through April 22, 2016 until 5p.m. The candidates selected will start work in August 2016. Applicants must be at least 18 years’ old and possess a high school diploma or GED by the start date in August.
