Internship Duties
This opportunity is in support of our partnership with Charlottesville Climate Collaborative’s Better Business Challenge. The majority of the internship hours will be spent working on organizing the awards gala for the Better Business Challenge which will be held June 20, 2019. As such, the intern will be working closely with Charlottesville Climate Collaborative staff and other interns. Possible duties include soliciting in kind donations and services, vendor negotiations, program drafting and production, promotion of the event through multiple channels, general logistics and other tasks as needed.
Other hours will center on content creation for LEAP’s website and social media channels. It will involve capturing testimonials and recommendations from customers, as well as coaching customers throughout the process to ensure high-quality video, photographic and written content is acquired. A successful candidate would carry skills in multimedia, video, social media, writing and web content management.
This is a good fit for a student looking to build a portfolio of deliverables with a focus on sustainability, energy including equity, and climate change action, as well as experience coordinating a major special event.

About Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP)

The Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP‐VA) empowers central and northern Virginia home and business owners with energy efficiency and solar solutions. We conduct Home Energy Check-Ups, offer Project Management services and manage utility energy efficiency retrofit programs for income qualifying customers. We also promote renewable energy technologies in central and northern Virginia regions through our twice yearly Solarize campaigns. Our partners include housing and environmental nonprofits, local municipalities and select energy efficiency and solar businesses.

Skills Required

Preferred: Working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing

Required: Excellent communication/writing skills, time-management, and enthusiasm for LEAP’s mission

Bonus: Experience with WordPress, Constant Contact, Salesforce, and/or graphic design

Work Schedule

We anticipate a max of 10 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling. Availability to make gala planning meetings at C3 required.
