Beginning as a series of dialogues between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and leading Western scientists and scholars, Mind & Life has since expanded to become the leading convener, catalyst, and community builder in supporting contemplative research and bridging practice and real world applications.

Job Duties

Provides social media content to create engaging posts from contemplative research.

Responsibilities:

  • Create original social media content by researching topics using Google Alerts and through self-directed exploration of topics affiliated with contemplative sciences.
  • Convert scholarly subject matter into plain-spoken posts that elicit responses and sharing from the general public.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to promote various events, programs and campaigns.
  • Respond to reader comments appropriately.
  • Cultivate new followers and build the community.
  • Manage a production schedule for gathering topics, writing the text, locating imagery and posting the content, including pre-scheduled auto-posts.
  • Develop a backlog of potential content.
  • Monitor usage and analytics to continuously improve performance.
  • In-office work on the Downtown Mall. No telecommuting.
  • Flexible pre-scheduled hours within the normal business day.

Skills Required

  • Experience using social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to interpret and convey concepts.
  • Knowledge of or ability to independently learn about back-end functionality and analytics behind social media platforms.
  • Interest in mindfulness, compassion and the understanding of consciousness.
  • Some training is possible, but basic proficiency is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who display engagement, interest, integrity and writing ability.

Work Schedule

10 hours week, flexible schedule between 9-5 M-F
