Description

Central Virginia Legal Aid Society (CVLAS) seeks an attorney for its Richmond office to work as part of the Housing Justice Program.

Job Duties

This position focuses on housing work in the greater Richmond area – specifically defending tenants in eviction lawsuits, helping tenants assert their legal rights, and educating tenants and the public on housing law.

Skills Required

Excellent written and oral advocacy skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are required. Prior experience litigating in Virginia’s district courts, or their equivalent, is strongly desired. Prior experience in public interest and poverty work is desirable.  Must have strong commitment to equal justice and ensuring housing stability.  Graduation from an ABA accredited law school and a current Virginia State Bar license required.
