Overview
Are you a RN looking for an opportunity to work with underserved members of our community? Do you have an interest in helping neighbors who are uninsured?
The Charlottesville Free is looking for a full-time nurse to assist with our clinical operations and patient care. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside our Family Nurse Practitioner to manage patient care, patient visits, patient referrals, and coordination of follow-up care.
The Charlottesville Free Clinic, a vibrant non-profit that fills a critical and unique role in our community. For 33 years, the Charlottesville Free Clinic has been an open door to free, high-quality healthcare for thousands of uninsured and underinsured adults in the greater Charlottesville area.
Phlebotomy skills preferred but not required. Good working knowledge of Spanish is required.

Key Responsibilities
– Work with our staff Nurse Practitioner to coordinate follow-up care for Free Clinic patients. This includes following up on patients’ imaging results and scheduling continued care outside the clinic.
– Partner with the Free Clinic staff Nurse Practitioner (FNP) during daytime clinic hours. Responsibilities include rooming patients, phlebotomy, charting of care, follow-up of lab results, and providing patient education.
– Support evening clinics (5:30-8:30pm) three evenings each week by serving in the role of head nurse. This role is vital to the continuity of integrated care within the Free Clinic setting.
– Assure lab, radiology and referral reports are available in advance of day time and evening patient appointments.
Skills Required
• Current licensure as Registered Nurse (BSN or MSN) or similar in the state of Virginia
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical setting (preferred, not required)
• Strong interpersonal skills, analytical thinking and ability to effectively lead staff
• Ability to take initiative for new responsibilities and projects
• Ability to exercise considerable tact and judgment when working with sensitive and confidential information
Work Schedule
– around 40 hours a week
– daytime
– evening clinic (5:30-8:30) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
