Description
The Virginia Victim Assistance Network (VVAN), a non-profit organization, seeks qualified applicants for a Project and Training Coordinator. This is a part-time position that reports to the Executive Director.
The Project and Training Coordinator will be responsible for working in partnership with allied professionals to conduct a comprehensive statewide training needs assessment; develop a coordinated training plan for victim service providers; implement improved training frameworks; and coordinate trainings and technical assistance to address the needs of victim service providers.
This a grant funded position, for a duration of three years. Continuation of the project will depend upon future grant availability.
Job Duties
Major Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Statewide Training Needs Assessment and Plan
- Collaborate with the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance and the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to complete all activities
- Work in partnership to establish an advisory committee to provide input and guidance throughout the project
- Develop materials for, convene, and help lead advisory committee meetings
- Research best practices for needs assessment models and make recommendations to guide project
- Conduct needs assessment, write report, and distribute to partners and stakeholders
- From needs assessment findings, develop a coordinated and comprehensive training and technical assistance plan for victim service providers that reflects assessment findings and best practices for content and delivery
- Continuously update and improve the plan
Improve Training Frameworks and Coordinate Trainings and Technical Assistance
- Work with training experts and curriculum design experts to improve framework for trainings
- Develop forms, checklists, marketing plans, evaluations, and other tools needed for trainings
- Manage all logistics related to trainings
- Work with allied partners to provide regional basic intensive trainings for newly hired advocates and Victim Witness staff
- Coordinate all logistics for Basic and Advanced Victim Witness Academies
- Work in partnership with VVAN’s Crisis Response Team Coordinator to provide regional Crisis Response Trainings
- Work with VVAN staff, Board, and relevant Board Committees to help plan the organization’s annual Victims’ Rights Conference
- Provide technical assistance to Victim Witness Coalitions
- Help coordinate any other trainings and technical assistance as identified in the statewide plan.
Other
- Track project statistics, outcomes, and manage overall program evaluation
- Assist in the submission of any grant required reports, including narrative and financial reporting
- Actively participate in staff and program meetings, professional development, and special events as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Required
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, criminology, social services, or a related field
- Experience as a trainer, training facilitator, or organizing trainings or similar events
- Knowledge about delivery of services to crime victims or related human services preferred
- Solid research skills with the ability to synthesize information to inform planning
- Proven track record showing ability to successfully complete the full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
- Knowledgeable about best practice training methods and techniques
- Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize work
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and multiple partners
- Experience working with committees or subgroups
- Organizational, problem-solving and time management skills
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
Work Schedule
3 days per week (24 hours)
Additional Info
This part-time position is 24 hours per week, at a rate of $28/hour. Part-time employees accrue paid vacation at a rate of 4 hours per month.
The position is subject to a criminal and driving background check. Candidates must have the ability and means to travel as needed, and insurance on personal vehicle used is required.
