Description

City of Promise seeks an experienced professional to serve as Program Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director will manage staff and oversee program delivery, fidelity, design, and results.

  • Significant leadership experience in education, youth development, or human services
  • Demonstrated project management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Experience motivating and mentoring staff to achieve goals
  • Experience collaborating successfully with agency partners, volunteers, donors, and Board members
  • Proven ability to implement evidence-informed programs while setting and tracking performance standards using custom databases
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, cultural competence, humility, and the ability to develop relationships of trust and respect with diverse populations
  • Commitment to continual growth and understanding of trends and best practices in family literacy, self-sufficiency, academic achievement, and positive youth development

Job Duties

  • Lead agency data collection and analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on program participants and activities.

  • Conduct and coordinate evaluation of the program in order to improve and advance service delivery and outcomes.
  • Insure confidentiality of all records and files.

Supervision

  • Meet regularly with Executive Director and Data Analyst to most effectively meet program needs.
  • Use supervision with humility to effectively plan and guide service delivery.
  • Work independently to provide services and use sound judgment; keep executive director up to date on service delivery and any potential problems.
  • Provide adequate guidance to volunteers as assigned.
  • Be prepared for and provide input at meetings of the agency and its partners.

Community Collaboration and Training

  • Collaborates with neighborhood leaders to support community goals.
  • Works cooperatively with community partners and referral sources.
  • Collaborates with program participants to assess needs and access needed resources.
  • Utilizes social media channels to promote outreach, participation, and celebration.

OVERVIEW

The City of Promise Program Director is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and expansion of agency programs to transform the educational and developmental outcomes of children and families within our service footprint. Primarily and most frequently, the work done is performed as a leader or manager with deepening expertise and strategic focus.

  • Provides supervision and day-to-day oversight of City of Promise staff and programs
  • Works with colleagues, neighborhood residents, volunteers, and community partners to deliver programs that address challenges and gaps identified through regular needs assessments
  • Collaborates with and supports executive director and data analyst in program design to secure ongoing programmatic excellence
  • Serves on relevant agency and stakeholder committees and working groups
  • Engages with donors, city officials, and other key partners to communicate and advance mission
  • Serves as agency point-of-contact in the absence of the executive director
  • Performs related tasks as required, including direct service provision to children and adults

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in education, human services, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: Program supervision and managerial experience required
  • Skills: Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and meet the minimum auto insurance requirements; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in use of customer relationship software
  • Work Requirements: Evening and occasional weekend work required; must be willing to work in person during the pandemic

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Human services and education experience preferred
  • Prior experience in the delivery and supervision of community-based services or programs preferred
