Description

Smart Cville is a civic technology non-profit in Central Virginia that promotes the use of technology and data.  We help communities find innovative solutions by facilitating the exchange of ideas between civic institutions and citizens.

Since our founding in 2014, we’ve had increasing success working with civic innovators, community organizations, and local governments.  Now we’re looking to grow past our volunteer-driven roots and hire our first program coordinator. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and tech-savvy individual who shares an interest in our mission and helping us grow.  We’ve put together this job description as a guide but also value applicants who bring their own innovative ideas and intend to give the Program Coordinator plenty of room to evolve this position should that be desired.

The Program Coordinator will collaborate with city and county staff, volunteers, and the Smart Cville Board to develop and manage programming related to civic technology, civic innovation, and smart cities in Central Virginia.  The Coordinator will execute existing programming and develop new programming that supports the broader mission of the organization. This position will also manage volunteer-led Project Teams working on discrete and ongoing civic innovation projects.  The Program Coordinator supports these endeavors by managing communications for the organization including social media, press releases, newsletters, and website content management. Opportunities to represent Smart Cville at various events in the region in an effort to raise awareness and recruit volunteers will also exist.

Sounds like a lot!  Keep in mind, though, we’re a small organization that’s run on 100% volunteer energy and will continue to have volunteer energy supporting our mission and our future program coordinator.
