Description

Light House Studio is an award-winning nonprofit filmmaking center for children and teens (ages 8-18) located in Charlottesville, VA that teaches self-expression through the art of film. We value connecting our community by way of storytelling, whether that’s teaching filmmaking at schools and community centers, partnering with other organizations to share their stories, or bringing people together to watch movies at Vinegar Hill Theatre. Since 1999, we have helped young filmmakers create thousands of dramatic, animated, and documentary films. We hold approximately 155 workshops every year, teaching over 1,000 children annually. We are seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to work closely with the Managing Director and Executive Director to ensure effective communication and advertising of our growing programming needs. The Program Coordinator also assists the Executive Director and Giving Director with general administration pertaining to marketing and development initiatives.

The position requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, as well as with a team.

Job Duties

  • Assist with program management from initial correspondence and registration through
    student survey completion
  • Manage film festival submissions and acceptances; ensure interns are meeting deadlines
  • Market programs through social media and website content creation
  • Design print and online marketing and advertising material; design weekly email newsletters
  • Assist with event planning and managing volunteers
  • Assist with general office operations
  • Monitor Google Analytics to improve user experience and drive website traffic
  • Participate in community outreach exhibitions and school visits
  • Assist with event and fundraiser mailings
  • Assist with QuickBooks entry and budgeting

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail
  • Ability to work on multiple, diverse projects and to meet deadlines
  • Comfort working independently without close or constant supervision
  • Experience designing marketing and advertising material with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop CS6
  • Knowledge of WordPress and various social media platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and database utilization (Bloomerang experience is a bonus)
  • QuickBooks experience is preferred
  • Must be comfortable using Mac computers
  • Event planning experience is a bonus
  • Video production and producing experience is a bonus
