Description

North Branch School is actively seeking a qualified Preschool teacher and Program Director who will oversee the daily operations and be the lead teacher in preschool.  North Branch’s preschool is a 4 morning/week preschool for students aged 3 and 4 years old.  This position is a half time teaching position with the ability for full time dependent on individual and qualification.  The candidate will be experienced in the field of Early Childhood Development and be a team leader. The lead teacher and program director’s responsibilities include: teaching, curriculum design, team leadership and training, review of state standards for day care centers, and excellent communication between parents, program & school staff and Head of School.

To be successful as a lead teacher and program director, you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a love for children. You should embrace the mission and philosophy of NBS and ensure that the NBS preschool meets and maintains the relevant standard set by the state and Virginia Department of Social Services. Ultimately, a top-notch program director will determine the needs of the program, protect the health and safety of children, design creative and engaging curriculum, and work in tandem with the Head of School and School Administrator.

Job Duties

  • Teach daily in preschool.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the Preschool.
  • Manage staff in collaboration with the Head of School.
  • Create policies and develop curriculum which conform to the state licensing requirements and NBS school philosophy.
  • Formulate and implement an innovative curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and engaging for students aged 3 – 5 years.
  • Ensure that the property & classroom is well-maintained.
  • Monitor & schedule all yearly staff training; including but not limited to CPR and First Aid, Medication Administration Training & Daily Health Observation for all members of staff.
  • Review staff, student and program records to make sure they conform to the state licensing requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between parents and students to share individual students’ successes and developmental stages.

Skills Required

  • Love for children and passion for teaching.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Masters Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field and at least six months of programmatic experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field and at least one year of programmatic experience.
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills.
  • No criminal record or child-related offenses.

 

Work Schedule

Position is for 4 mornings (M, T, Th, F) 8:30 – 12:30, with the potential to increase to 4 full days (M, T, Th, F) 8:30 – 3:30, depending on individual and qualifications.

Additional Info

A candidate with qualifications that fit the needs of the school-age program may be eligible for an expanded position to four full days. This would make them eligible for health care benefit.
