The Charlottesville Finance Department is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Payroll Technician who are highly motivated and who strives for success by demonstrating Charlottesville’s Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence. This position performs complex and specialized technical work in the areas of finance involving the preparation and maintenance of the payroll system. Maintains a high level of integrity to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information. Responsibilities require ability to able to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and prioritize to meet multiple deadlines. Primarily and most frequently work done here is under general supervision.

The hiring amount will be between $16.51 and $22.94 an hour ($34,342.77 to $47,715.20 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position. Minimum Qualifications:

• Three years of experience performing above and related duties.
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. (If no associate’s degree, minimally one years of undergraduate coursework with two years of highly related experience may be considered equivalent.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with SAP or similar ERP software preferred.
