The City of Charlottesville – Public Works Department is seeking candidates to be considered for Parts Manager in the Fleet Division who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville’s Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence.

The preferred hiring range for this position is between $16.97 and $24.85 an hour ($35,297.60 to $51,688.00 Annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity.   • The City of Charlottesville manages its own retirement system and does not participate in VRS, however the City has a Portability Agreement with VRS. This position performs responsible technical work in support of the Public Work’s Fleet Division to procure and maintain automotive and equipment parts; management of multiple fleet related contracts that may include auto body and tires; oversees the development, maintenance, issuance and inventory of parts for a fleet of light, medium and heavy vehicles and equipment. Assists in the assignment of tasks to mechanic and supports administrative and/or mechanical staff as needed. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of either the Fleet Manager or Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED. (If no diploma or GED, minimally must completed education through tenth grade with four (4) years of highly relevant work experience  the automotive, truck or specialized motorized equipment field directly related to the purchase, stockage, issue, sales and/or accountability for parts and supplies.)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive, truck or specialized motorized equipment field directly related to the purchase, stockage, issue, sales and/or accountability for parts and supplies.
