Description

The Partnership Development Manager is responsible for implementing a cohesive business development strategy to identify and advance new opportunities to drive growth, sustainability, and impact. The Partnership Development Manager will work closely with members of the Product and Marketing and Communications teams to build and execute strategies to enable the achievements of business goals. 

As the Product and Engineering teams work to build and maintain the Open Science Framework (OSF) and the COS product suite, this role will be critical to finding and acquiring new partners to leverage the COS products and services to advance aligned goals for open scholarship. The Partnership Development Manager will work closely with COS teams to understand customer needs, identify product and service gaps, and build an outreach approach to generate new partnership opportunities to bring COS products and services to new communities, disciplines, regions, and stakeholders to advance open science.

Job Duties

  • Represent the COS brand well, effectively communicate the mission and theory of change, and provide a clear and concise overview of the product and service offerings
  • Articulate, differentiate, and position the value of the COS products and services, detailing the OSF as a product for the research lifecycle
  • Compare and contrast each product and service to ensure awareness and understanding of unique goals, workflows, and interfaces to support partner selection that is aligned with needs
  • Learn about potential and existing partner goals, motivations, and obstacles. Leverage this understanding to support partner and stakeholder discussions about goals aligned with COS mission and product and service objectives
  • Qualify potential new partners to ensure alignment with COS mission, product and service goals, and shared understanding and expectations with partnership models
  • Implement and document efficient processes for tracking and smooth transitions across opportunity stages, from lead generation, qualification, acquisition, onboarding, agreement and invoicing, to continual engagement and renewal
  • Collaborate with product team members to explore potential partnerships and markets, facilitate product discussions, and prioritize improvements and feedback into the product development roadmap
  • Conduct product and market research, landscape analyses, and price comparisons to support new opportunities and growth into new markets
  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team to conduct market research and design and implement marketing campaigns to drive awareness and acquisition of new partners for products and services
  • Efficiently manage a continuous pipeline of new partner opportunities to meet business goals through monthly funnel reporting, effective communication across teams about partner activities, and ensuring follow through on partner administration and onboarding
  • Gather insights through analytics and feedback to learn from our successes and failures to create long term value and evolve our offerings to meet the needs of our customers, markets, users, and partners
  • Support annual revenue forecasting and metrics to meet or exceed business goals
  • Work across organizational teams to support effective relationship management with all stakeholders and partners
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and continuous renewal pipeline revenue

Required Education/Experience
  • BSc/BA degree in business administration, sales, or relevant field
  • 3-5 years experience as a business development manager, sales or accounts manager, or relevant role
  • Prior experience in non-profit sales or business development role
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Background in academic institutional sales, funder relations, and/or society partnerships
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Experience using Salesforce or other CRM tool

Work Schedule

Monday- Friday, 9a-5p ET.
