Tandem Friends School seeks a Part-time School Counselor and/or Part-time Psychological Consultant to work with faculty and administrators to address the social-emotional needs of our students, grades 5-12. They will serve as a vital contact person and resource for teachers and parents.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide short-term individual counseling in order to assess the nature of concerns and offer appropriate resources to students and families. Students who need regular counseling will be referred to an outside professional.
  • Participate in student support meetings to discuss individual students and to identify strategies to address their situations.
  • Provide support to classroom teachers and administrators regarding students facing social and emotional issues.
  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers on the development of school programming.

Applicants should be licensed professionals with advanced degrees in school psychology or licensed mental health professionals. Previous experience working with adolescents is required; experience working in a school setting is expected. This position may be filled by a professional who could consult as needed throughout the school year, and/or by someone who comes in for regular hours once or twice a week.
