Description

The Arbor is a nonprofit organization that provides long-term housing and holistic aftercare services to adult, female, human trafficking survivors in Virginia, so that they may establish a community of healing and reclaim wholenessfreedom, and life.

Operations Coordinator

The Arbor is seeking a qualified, energetic person to serve as Operations Coordinator. To fully help survivors of human trafficking reclaim vibrant, healthy and independent lives, The Arbor needs committed staff to grow and sustain thriving internal operations and the scheduling, training and work of volunteer supporters for the Arbor safe house aftercare program. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized, relational individual and demonstrated problem solver able to balance and fulfill a varied, engaging workload.

The position is full-time based in Charlottesville, VA and reports to the Executive Director. Some weekend and evening work will be included in execution of normal full-time job responsibilities as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage finances and accounting using QuickBooks software and coordinate as needed with The Arbor’s Certified Public Accountant
  • Maintain procedures to ensure data compliance with financial policies including restricted giving, refunds and receipting
  • Check the Arbor P.O. Box and make bank deposits on a weekly basis and as necessary
  • Purchase groceries and other safe house supplies on a weekly basis
  • Process monthly bills, including safe house utilities
  • Process background checks for all potential volunteers and staff
  • Work with Case Manager(s) to coordinate move-in for new residents and move-out for graduating residents
  • Manage website content and update as needed making changes in a timely manner.
  • Manage changes and updates to Qgiv online giving website.
  • Ensure that The Arbor’s insurance coverage (policies and payments) are up to date
  • Manage and format communications including newsletters and social media
  • Coordinate safe house volunteers and part-time staff, including training and scheduling, who provide coverage and other volunteer assistance associated with the aftercare program
  • Handle all inbound communication, emails, phone calls and distribute to appropriate staff
  • Assist with fundraising and event planning as needed
  • Manage all HR/ payroll needs
  • Manage all aspects of Safe House and property (storage facility, van) coordinating maintenance, ensuring security system works, maintaining clients’ computer, etc
  • Maintain all nonprofit forms and documents to ensure good standing with government agencies

 

Required Qualifications and Qualities

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Professed Christian faith
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks software
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Basic web editing
  • Familiarity and skill with technology (iOS operating systems, printer set-up and maintenance, phone plans and maintenance for clients, etc.)
  • Proven ability to balance and execute multiple tasks, strategically plan, efficiently manage processes and people, and meet deadlines
  • Team player, disciplined, creative problem solving, service-oriented, positive outlook
  • Deep commitment to the healing and well-being of survivors of human trafficking
  • Exceptionally dependable and possess keen judgment with regard to all aspects of the job (operational and relational)

 

Strongly Desired

  • Expertise with QuickBooks software
  • Public speaking experience
  • Experience maintaining a Word Press website
  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the complexity of different forms of and factors involved with engaging modern day slavery and human trafficking including but not limited to: public policy, legal & criminal justice matters, models of aftercare, reliable statistics, and key agencies and organizations addressing the issue locally, nationally and globally.
