EMERGENCY FOOD NETWORK

OFFICE MANAGER POSITION

The person in this position performs crucial administrative duties for a leading Charlottesville-area emergency food service, including accounting for donations, logistical support of Board members, and support of extensive volunteer network. Looking for self-starting, detail-oriented individual with a passion for addressing food insecurity in our region.  Approximately 10-12 hours per week, more hours in November-January. Reports to Board Chair and Executive Committee.

Skills  and experience required: Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, good written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, basic accounting/bookkeeping skills, previous experience with administrative and office duties, ability to create and manage own schedule, and familiarity with social media. Experience with online donor management systems (or similar database systems)  as well as performing mail merges is a plus. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Duties: Coordinate the payment of invoices with bookkeeper, process food and monetary donations, generate thank you letters, maintain donor/volunteer database, assist with annual appeal mailing, maintain office and board records, attend quarterly board meetings, help with event planning, update Web site text as needed.  Additional duties as determined by chair. Some driving is necessary, so personal transportation is a must. Access to printer/scanner preferred.

Work Schedule

Extremely flexible. Some recurring responsibilities (such as retrieving mail, depositing checks, and visiting our pantry) will require daytime travel in Charlottesville. Otherwise, the office manager may conduct business from home during hours of his/her choosing.
