The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), a non-profit multi-disciplinary artists residency program of international scope with locations in beautiful Amherst County, Virginia and in Auvillar, an historic village in Southwest France, seeks a dynamic Manager of Communications & Community Partnerships.  The Manager of Communications & Community Partnerships reports to and works closely with the Executive Director and other staff members.  Major areas of responsibility include establishing and maintaining a clear identity and dynamic profile for VCCA with current and potential Fellows, donors and funders using web and social media, organizational collateral, and public relations channels.  The position manages relationships with VCCA’s community partners as a platform for Fellows’ community engagement and VCCA’s public recognition.  The ideal candidate will have experience shaping the profile of a non-profit organization with various constituencies, excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Job Duties

This position is an opportunity for a skilled but emerging marketing and communications professional to shape a program and advance their career.  The Manager of Communications & Community Partnerships develops and implements a multi-faceted communications strategy for VCCA, positioning the organization within the international art world, the national and regional philanthropic community, the loyal group of world-wide Fellows, and other key constituencies.  The Manager of Communications & Community Partnerships represents VCCA with our community partners and manages and promotes partnership programs that present VCCA Fellows to the public.  S/he projects, protects and promotes VCCA’s brand through written communication, graphic design, and online presence.

  • Working collaboratively with the Executive Director and team members, develops and implements a comprehensive communications plan to maximize awareness of VCCA and its two locations, its events, programs, and Fellowship opportunities using relevant media.

  • Develops and manages VCCA community partnerships to ensure smooth relationships and wide public impact of joint events featuring VCCA Fellows.

  • In partnership with the development staff, designs and produces persuasive development communications, including newsletter, annual report and event invitations.

  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to promote VCCA with the press and on social media.

  • Maintains and updates content on the website and on social media to ensure dynamic positioning for VCCA.

  • Manages relationships with outside vendors within project objectives and budget parameters.
