Description

Background:  IRC Charlottesville provides resettlement services to approximately 250 newly arriving refugees each year as well as ongoing support to refugees and asylees already in the community.  A dedicated staff of 17 professionals and 3 Americorps volunteers offers an array of programs including employment, education, family support, immigration and interpreter services.  

Scope of Work: The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the logistical operations in support of the resettlement services team.  The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Manager of Resettlement Services.  

Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Secure appropriate, affordable housing for all new arrivals.
  • Coordinate the logistics of apartment set-ups (furniture orders, supply delivery, utility hook–up, and home safety inspections, etc).
  • Implement procurement by planning and placing orders, researching vendors, and maintaining associated documentation.
  • Coordinate arrangements for newly arriving refugees including airport pick-ups; participate in rotation along with other staff and volunteers to conduct airport pick-ups and home and personal safety orientations – some evening work required.
  • Report to senior management on all operational issues and escalate those issues requiring additional attention.
  • Coordinate client home repair requests with landlords and property managers; track resolution of concerns and document accordingly.
  • Ensure financial documentation in client case files is complete, accurate, current and in compliance with mandated timelines.
  • Provide community orientation presentation to all new arrivals; coordinate with casework team and complete required documentation for client case files.
  • Maintain and update informational database on all refugee clients served under state contract.
  • Oversee volunteers, interns and work study students who provide support to the casework team.

Skills Required

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years relevant work experience.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
  • Self- starter with excellent problem solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Proven success achieving goals and working effectively with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment, ideally with some experience working with refugees or immigrants.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area.
