Description

At Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle, our mission is to extend a compassionate hand to our community’s most vulnerable individuals. Since 1977, we have been dedicated to providing hot, nutritious meals and essential wellness checks to those who struggle with food accessibility or preparation. With over 400 committed volunteers, we serve approximately 275 clients in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. We ensure each meal is tailored to meet our recipients’ dietary needs under a registered dietitian’s guidance. Our services promote health and independence and foster a sense of connection and belonging, offering a lifeline of care and community to those in need.

Through our efforts, Meals on Wheels nourishes the body and nurtures the spirit, providing daily social contact and a vital safety net for individuals who may otherwise be isolated or at risk. By supporting our homebound neighbors, we contribute to earlier discharges from medical facilities, reduce the need for institutional care, and enable elderly and disabled individuals to maintain their independence and dignity in the comfort of their own homes. With each delivery, we uphold our commitment to fostering a healthier, more connected community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
