The Human Resources Department is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the position of Human Resources Consultant who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville’s Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence.

The full salary range for this position is $47,191.51 to $87,297.79 annually. This is a full-time, exempt, position. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This position provides timely and effective advice, guidance and consultation to managers and supervisors in the areas of recruitment, compensation, policy interpretation, workers’ compensation, Family Medical Leave, ADA and employee relations. Position performs a variety of human resource duties in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, classification/compensation, employee relations/grievances, policy development and interpretation, training, research design and communication. Serves as the primary point of contact for HR specialized areas to assigned departments. Reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Skills Required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in human resource management, business or public administration or related field;
  • Five years related experience in compensation, benefits and/or employee relations.
    • (An equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR or IPMA-CP certification desired.
