Description

Skyline CAP has an opportunity for an experienced, hands-on administrator to lead our housing department. The Housing Director position will report to the Executive Director and oversee the functions of the department and staff. We’re looking for a clear communicator, a confident leader with positive people skills and the ability to work on projects with only broad instruction. The successful candidate must be able to plan the program of work for the department, prepare budgets, grant applications, audit corrections and be able to follow guidelines for compliance with grantors. Familiarity with VHDA, HUD, Housing Choice Vouchers, and housing counseling would be an asset. Must be willing to learn all funding streams, grantor requirements and restrictions to identify opportunities for projects and work with community partners. Knowledge or experience with trades or contracting would be helpful. This is a full-time exempt position with an annual salary of $42k – $50k. Job Duties

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan program of work for the department.
  2. Prepare budget and grant applications.  Responsible for audit preparations and corrections.
  3. Staff supervision of 2-4 employees.  Determine work schedules and maintain a healthy work environment.
  4. Oversee projects to ensure contractor compliance.
  5. Develop operating standards, procedures and templates that eliminate mistakes and maximize staff productivity.
  6. Understand all funding streams and grantor requirements.  Be able to identify opportunities to leverage funds with community partners.
  7. Be comfortable promoting our services and responding to customer and client inquires.
  8. Maintain industry knowledge by attending workshops or classes as needed.
  9. Train and assist staff with performing duties, as needed.

Skills:

  • Confident leader with positive people skills and a desire to provide great customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to work on sizeable projects with broad instructions.
  • Analytical thinker who can problem solve and make sound business decisions.
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft office.  The ability to master various computer systems for demographics, client tracking and grant reporting.
  • Ability to create structure and follow regulatory guidelines for compliance.
  • Familiarity with state and federal grants related to VHDA, HUD, Housing Choice Vouchers, Emergency Home Repairs, and rental and home counseling will be a plus.

Work Schedule

Our office is open to the public Monday – Friday.
