Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. PVCC seeks a part-time hourly Grants Specialist for the Office of Institutional Advancement and Development. Under the guidance of the Director of Grants, the Grants Specialist will coordinate multiple aspects of post-award grant management. The Specialist will also support identified activities related to grants research, planning, and writing as needed and defined.Join our small but nimble and mighty advancement team to help support post award grants management.  This position is great opportunity to help advance our mission and to work with a variety of initiatives across the college.

Job Duties

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work in partnership with project directors to expedite the grants award process and develop related MOUS, contracts, subawards, and budget amendments.
  • Work in partnership with the business office, to support new project budget account set up, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and other regulations that apply to grant awards, while managing financial risk.
  • Coordinate face-to-face meetings with project directors to assure that expenditures are within budget and post-award activities comply with responsible grant management principles and specific grant guidelines.
  • Maintain all documentation related to post-award management of grants.
  • Manage post-award grants administration activities on grants software used by the college to coordinate required tasks, timelines, and budget management.
  • Work with grant project directors to ensure that reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide excellent written, oral, and proofreading skills and general knowledge of accounting procedures and budget development and administration.
  • Anticipate needs of grants office and proactively provide support with a positive attitude and attention to accuracy.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of office procedures, principles, and practices necessary to operate efficiently.

  • Collaborative nature and ability to work under pressure of deadlines with a positive attitude
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software
  • Experience in grants management

Additional considerations:

  • Knowledge of community college functions
  • Experience in public or private grants management.
  • The ideal candidate will have a successful track record with federal or state grants administration in an educational setting.

 

Work Schedule

Days, Monday through Friday.

This is a part-time position. Annual average hours of no more than 29 hours per week.
