The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking a detail-oriented Gift Processing and Data Entry Specialist to join our successful development team. This is an opportunity to dedicate your talents to a mission you care about during a pivotal period that will determine the environmental health of our region, our nation, and our planet. With our law and policy expertise, effective place-based approach, and 35-year track record, SELC has a central leadership role to play in reducing our region’s impact on climate change while ensuring healthy air and clean water for all.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Development, Operations based at SELC’s Charlottesville headquarters. This position may be performed on a remote basis through the COVID-19 pandemic, but is expected to be full-time, onsite as our Charlottesville office reopens.

Job Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the processing and acknowledgment of donations in Salesforce according to established protocols.
  • Communicates with donors by phone and email. Also communicates directly with SELC’s broker about stock transfers. Demonstrates exemplary customer service in all exchanges.
  • Reconciles monthly and annually with accounting department.
  • Maintains electronic files for donors and prospects.
  • Assists with data entry as assigned including mailing address updates.
  • Partners with Salesforce Administrator to ensure data integrity.
  • Partners with the Creative Director and the Graphic Designer on mailing lists and manages interaction with mailing house.
  • Assists the Development Information Systems team with other tasks as assigned.

Skills Required

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP and familiarity with nonprofits strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity, integrity, and accuracy.
  • Reliability, responsiveness, and courtesy in all team and donor interactions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented. You are self-driven and have excellent time management skills. You feel confident shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position located at SELC’s headquarters in Charlottesville, VA. SELC’s core office hours are 8:30am – 5:15pm Monday through Friday.
