Sin Barreras (Without Barriers) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that empowers immigrants and their families in Central Virginia, focusing on the Latinx population, by educating, advocating and supporting their needs. Our five program areas include: Welcoming & Navigation, Legal & Immigration, Educational Programs, Health, Wellness & Culture, and Food & Financial Security. We are looking for a motivated, energetic person to join the team in a part-time position (20 hours a week.) Could grow into a full time position for the right candidate.

We are a small, growing organization working in a space with enormous need. We are looking for a candidate who is dedicated to our mission and willing to grow. Compensation is offered and we believe this opportunity is a good fit for someone looking to gain hands-on non-profit experience at the grassroots level.

Job Duties

• Under guidance of leadership, create timely and compelling donor communications,and process and acknowledge gifts;
• Grow social media presence to expand awareness of our programs and the importance of philanthropy in making our work possible;
• Propose, plan and execute events to engage friends and donors in the work of Sin Barreras;
• Look for new and creative ways to generate resources.

Skills Required

• Understand and promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sin Barreras;
• Strong written and verbal communication in English (Spanish is a plus, but not essential);
• Strong technical skills (Microsoft and Google Applications);
• Good listener and team player able to retell clients’/organization’s  stories effectively;
• Ability to work in a changing environment with an evolving organization;
• A passion for the cause of all human rights.

• (Ability to generate effective and attractive graphics for promotional material is desirable and will be learned on the job.)
