Description

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation, a medical research, education and patient advocacy organization in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Financial Analyst. This position will represent the Foundation in a professional manner and must perform with a high level of accuracy and problem solving ability. The Financial Analyst must be team player and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven and results-oriented. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong analytical skills, written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Financial Analyst will work independently on projects, from conception to completion, as well as reconcile between departments. They must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of projects.

Job Duties

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Financial Revenue
    • Monitor revenue by updating/entering appropriate information in accounting system, supplementary tracking systems
    • Reconcile Income, Accounts Receivable, & Pledges monthly
    • Reconcile monthly between Finance and Development revenue reporting, providing variance reports to Director of Finance
    • Restricted donations, set up tracking for quarterly expense allocation
    • Track expense allocations to restricted projects
  • Co-Funding
    • Track all co-funded projects and reporting requirements
    • Prepare quarterly reports for Director of Finance
  • Grants & Partnerships
    • Track all grant agreement requirements
    • Prepare grant financials for report
    • Prepare quarterly updates of grants in pipeline
  • In-kind projects
    • Track in-kind projects from inception to completion
  • Program Awards
    • Track program awards by inception/stage/year expenses incurred
  • State-funded projects
    • Track project from inception/stage/expenses incurred
  • Wellness program
    • Work with assigned staff to develop, recommend, and implement planned activities
    • Provide quarterly updates to Director of Finance.
  • Accounting administration support
    • Prepare and enter month end entries (wire fees, interest income)
    • Monthly general review, investigate discrepancies all the way through to positive resolution
    • Assist with evaluating and implementing new financial software as needed
    • Track non-disclosure agreements and certificates of insurance as required
    • Problem solve by investigating various issues and providing a solution for correction or positive outcome
    • Prepare organization quarterly board book financial report formatting as requested
    • Proof-read organization quarterly board book as requested
    • Support annual organization audit by preparing requested work papers
    • Support Director of Finance and Staff Accountant as needed
    • Assist with special projects as requested
    • Other duties as requested

Skills Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Full understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Strong work tenure: five to 10 years of experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, database management systems
