Finance Director

Description

The Finance Director provides effective management of the church’s financial resources, including the preschool. Under the direction of the church’s Finance & Administration and Endowment committees, the finance director has responsibility for maintaining sound financial accounting practices and budgetary control of the church’s financial assets. Job Duties

Key duties:
• Maintain secure records and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial processes.
• Analyze the financial status of church operations monthly, distributing appropriate reports to church leaders and staff.
• Maintain confidential contribution records and provide contribution statements as required.
• Maintain employee data as required for outsourced payroll processing.
• Oversee a bookkeeping assistant.
• Maintain files on contracts and agreements, participating in negotiations and renewals as appropriate.
• Support the Personnel Committee, including personnel file maintenance, background checks, coordination of annual health benefits review, and preparation of annual worker’s compensation report.
• Collaborate with the office administrator on timely maintenance of the church’s membership database and analyze data and prepare reports as required

Skills Required

Work experience in accounting, finance, or business administration.

Work experience using QuickBooks and Excel; working knowledge of database and word processing software; discretion and ability to work effectively on teams, show hospitality, and foster interpersonal relationships. Experience working with volunteers desired.

Work Schedule

20 hours per week, flexibility in establishing a schedule
