Description

The Finance Director oversees all aspects of MACAA’s financial management across multiple areas, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial analysis, and risk management. The Finance Director creates and maintains budgets, regulatory and government reporting, and prepares financial reports for MACAA’s management and its Board of Directors. The Finance Director is an integral member of the senior management team and supports and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

 

Local candidates only. This position currently involves approximately 90% remote work (teleworking or work from home) and 10% in-office work (subject to change). Reliable home internet service is required to apply.

Job Duties

  • Oversees and manages finances and cash flow for the agency ($4.5M annual budget).

  • Prepares monthly, annual, and periodic fiscal reports for internal use, as well as for grantmaking organizations, local government agencies, and other partners.

  • Oversees payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, cash management, and treasury.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.

  • Develops the annual operating budget and prepares budgets for grant applications.

  • Prepares financial forecasts, monitors financial ratios, establishes plans for financial reserves and cash flow, and ensures financial assets are available to support responsible agency growth.

  • Provides oversight of capital assets.

  • Develops and maintains internal controls over finance and financial reporting.

  • Arranges and leads support for the annual financial audit and federal audits.

  • Ensures adequate insurance coverage for all MACAA operations.

  • Supports the Executive Director in preparing for and staffing finance committee and board meetings.

  • Completes other assignments as assigned by the Executive Director.

Skills Required

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. MA/MS degree preferred.

  • 5 years’ minimum experience in a fiscal-management-related position.

  • Prior experience in a foundation or a not-for-profit organization preferred.

  • Prior experience with federal grant reporting standards preferred.

  • Proven skill in the use of computer technology and automated fiscal applications.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Additional Info

  • Must provide a current physical/TB test and pass background screenings including criminal, sex offender, and child protective services.

  • Must be willing to adjust work schedule as needed.

  • Physical activity of this position – ascending and descending stairs, ramps, and the like; balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting; use of fingers for picking, pinching, grasping, and typing; repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Exerting up to 50-30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Visual acuity requirements – visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

  • Conditions subjected to in this position – not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
