The preferred hiring range for this position is between $60,611.20 – $90,854.40 Annually. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This position performs difficult and complex professional work supervising a unit or team of Family Services Specialists (social workers) performing program/casework services for a target population; does related work as required. Provides direct oversight and management of the investigation process and ongoing program/casework services. Responsible for program advocacy on agency, community and state levels. Activity participates and assumes a leadership role in team based organizational development, focused on outcomes. This position may be eligible for full or partial telework, certain in-person meetings, training, and other in-person job tasks will be required. Additionally, the individual who holds this position may be asked to work during emergency operations as outlined in the departments continuity of operations plan.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services or other related field.
    • *Please note: Minimally, a Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area as mandated in Section 22VAC40-670-20 of the Administrative Code of Virginia and implemented by the Virginia Board of Social Services may be substituted as equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years social work knowledge and experience.
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.

Skills:  Assessment and intervention with target population; knowledge and application of related laws and regulations; excellent communication skills (verbal and written); the ability to relate effectively with a diverse population; the ability to give careful attention to paperwork and documentation; and experience in supervision, consultation, training and program coordination.
