Additional Info

Barrett has played an important and unique role in the lives of low income working families for more than 85 years. Having opened in 1935 as the Janie Porter Barrett Nursery School under WPA funding and housed in the Daughters of Zion Hall in Vinegar Hill, it never lost its mission of providing a safe and nurturing harbor for the children of low paid, minority families. In 1958, Barrett moved to Ridge St. when the United Way gifted a house to the Center. Barrett’s Ridge St. home was built in 1916 and is now on the Register of Historic Places. It’s home away from home to our children.

This position is a great opportunity for applicants who are committed to social and educational justice for all children.
