Description

The Nelson Community Wellness Alliance is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is the chief mobilizer of the Nelson Community Wellness Alliance; they will leverage the power of relationships, networks, and work across private, public and corporate sectors to improve access to behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services in Nelson County, Virginia.

The Executive Director must possess a high level of business and management skills and be effective at developing and implementing strategic and business plans, and facilitating the implementation of the programs and activities to ensure the success of the Alliance. The Executive Director will research, develop, and determine funding necessary to maintain operations and programs. This is an incredible leadership opportunity for an individual who is passionate about community health, supporting people in recovery from substance abuse, and collaboration among community partners. Please note, this is a grant funded position

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years previous leadership experience in nonprofit organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, nonprofit management or related field
  • Successful fundraising and development experience

Job Duties

  • Annually create a strategic organizational plan and overall budget
  • Create and maintain relationships with individuals and community based organizations to facilitate success of the Alliance’s mission and strategic vision.
  • Prepare agendas, reports, and materials for board meetings and general community meetings.
  • Develops fundraising plan, including grant research, writing, and management.

Skills Required

  • Experience working in or across multiple sectors, including nonprofit, public and corporate environments.
  • Experienced in developing partnerships, building teams and conflict management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of management skills to ensure Alliance’s profit and growth.
  • Possess the knowledge and security to make effective independent decisions and adapt when circumstances warrant it. Know how to read and interpret financial reports and information.
  • Possess organizational skills to maintain the executive affairs and documentation in order.
  • Possess excellent and professional writing and oral communication skills, including grant writing. Be able to make effective and persuasive presentations, and communicate in a clear and concise manner.

Work Schedule

40+ hours per week. Generally Monday -Friday 9-5 pm, occasional weekends or evenings.
