Position Vacancy Announcement
Title: Executive Director
Reports to: Board of Directors
Compensation: Beginning at $20/hour
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week for 50 weeks per year
Adult Community Education (ACE) is a non-profit literacy organization serving adults in Louisa County, Virginia who want to improve their reading skills, earn a GED, or learn to speak English. ACE is currently conducting a search to fill the position of Executive Director. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives, for implementing the policies and objectives of the organization, and for carrying out day-to-day operations. Position available August 1, 2018.
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Mission: Provide personally relevant life-long learning opportunities for Louisa County adults in a safe, confidential, and non-discriminatory environment.
Staff: Part-time Executive Director and part-time Program Coordinator
Students: 60+ including ESOL, GED and basic literacy skills
Volunteers: 30+, mostly one-on-one tutors
One central office in the town of Louisa with computer lab & 7 student workstations. The office is open 23 hours each week.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- minimum education: Bachelor’s degree
- excellent people management/interpersonal skills
- excellent written and oral communication
- grant writing ability
- excellent analytical and organizational skills
- excellent problem-solving skills
- public speaking ability
- financial acumen
- fundraising experience and ability/willingness to solicit funds
- respect for persons of diverse backgrounds
- passion for ACE’s mission
- high ethical standards
- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- internet proficiency
Desired:
- non-profit or related management experience
- specialized knowledge in ESOL, reading instruction, and/or learning disabilities
- adult education experience
- familiarity with Quickbooks or other budget/financial experience
- experience with social media platforms
