Leadership Fauquier is seeking a dynamic and strategic Executive Director to lead our non-profit program into its next chapter. Leadership Fauquier is a signature community leadership program that provides its cohorts knowledge, skills and connections to grow personally and professionally as leaders within the Fauquier County community and beyond.

The Executive Director is the public face of Leadership Fauquier, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensuring the work aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic objectives. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors and community stakeholders to ensure the effective management of programs and resources.

Job Duties

Essential Functions:

Operations:
• Oversees daily operations of Leadership Fauquier and ensures alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.
• Fiscal Oversight, works with the external bookkeeper to ensure all Accounts Payables and Receivables are handled in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Works with the Treasurer to prepare an annual budget and monthly financial reports to be distributed to the Board of Directors.
• Supports the committees set forth by the board.

Program:
• Marketing for Cohorts: Develops and implements strategies to attract participants, which may include promotional materials, social media campaigns and networking outreach.
• Onboarding: creates a welcoming and informative onboarding process for new participants to ensure they understand the program’s goals and expectations.
• Retreat: plans and organizes the retreat, including selecting themes, activities and locations that align with the program’s objectives.
• Program Days: Coordinates with venues and speakers to organize program days, ensures that all logistical details are handled effectively.
• Design Class Project: Develops a meaningful and relevant project that participants will work on throughout the program, promoting learning and collaboration.
• Facilitating Graduation: Manages the final stages of the program, including organizing a graduation ceremony to celebrate participants achievements.
• Works with the Alumni Committee Chair to facilitate the engagement through alumni events and other outreach opportunities.

Communication:
• Oversees social media channels, drafts press releases, and maintains the organization’s website.

Fundraising:
• Creates a comprehensive fundraising plan that outlines the organization’s fundraising goals, target audiences and methods of outreach to secure necessary funding.

Board of Directors:
• Meets with the Board Chair on a regular basis, as determined by the Chair.
• Assists in onboarding of new board members. Supports the work of committees established by the Board.

Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ experience in non-profit management.
• Visionary and community-oriented individual with strong relationship building skills.
• Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
• Transparent and high integrity leadership.
• Ability to convey a vision of Leadership Fauquier’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
• Strong written and oral communication skills including public speaking.
• Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and facilitation.
• Budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

Work Schedule

Up to 30 hours per week. In-person.
