Description
Shenandoah National Park Trust is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the natural, cultural, and historic resources of Shenandoah National Park. Our goal is to connect communities to this remarkable landscape, fostering a deep sense of stewardship to ensure the park thrives for generations to come.
The Event and Volunteer Manager will lead the Trust’s suite of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events, from conception to execution. This role also involves growing our burgeoning volunteer program to support internal and external events and donor stewardship efforts.
This position is part of a larger team and entails various responsibilities that require professionalism, collaboration, initiative, a high level of attention to detail, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information. The Event and Volunteer Manager will be both process- and product-oriented, able to refine and iterate on existing processes, plans, and partnerships to improve outcomes and deliver top-quality, concierge-level service to partners, constituents, and donors.
Job Duties
What You’ll Do:
Event Management (75%)
Lead the charge in planning and executing unforgettable events that connect our community to the park.
Handle all event logistics—from vendor relations to guest speakers—and ensure every detail is perfect.
Manage budgets, grow partnerships, and deliver top-tier experiences for our supporters.
Develop eye-catching event materials in collaboration with our communications team.
Be the face of SNPT at community events and make our mission shine.
Volunteer Program (25%)
Elevate our volunteer program, creating meaningful opportunities for individuals and groups to engage with our mission.
Coordinate volunteer projects, recruit passionate volunteers, and keep them engaged from start to finish.
Track volunteer hours, manage schedules, and recognize the invaluable contributions of our volunteers.
Skills Required
Who You Are:
An energetic event planner with 3-5 years of experience (or a degree and 2 years of experience).
A natural communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments.
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and ready to juggle multiple projects.
Flexible and excited to work evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
Passionate about conservation and eager to make a difference.
Work Schedule
This job is generally 9-5pm, but due to the nature of this position, weekend and evening work is required when events are happening.
