Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing. Currently licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing as a LPN. In compliance with state licensing in earning CEUs. Certified in CPR/First Aid.
Job Knowledge : Three to five years of management nursing experience, preferably in a long-term care facility. Ability to manage, train, educate, and supervise.
Standards: Must have a genuine interest in the elderly. Patience and tact. Interested in learning and advancement; ability to work congenially with others. Respect for the principles of resident rights, confidentiality, EEO and ADA. Must be able to move between multiple tasks concurrently and make decisions efficiently.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises RNs, LPNs, CNAs and Unit Administrators.
Performance Requirements : Regular and reliable attendance; irregular hours when necessary; attending work-related meetings; completing on-line Relias training on time; attendance at all mandatory trainings-quarterly, at 6-months and annual. Directing others, handling confidential information; keyboarding/typing; computer knowledge; maintaining consistent effort through workday; meeting deadlines; operating equipment; staying organized; using math/performing calculations.
Mental Requirements: Thinking analytically; handling stressful situations; concentrating on tasks; effective written and verbal communication; examining/observing and remembering details; making decisions; adjusting to change. Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
