The hiring amount will be between $18.85 and $25.00 an hour. This is a part-time temporary position with no benefits. Position may require up to 26 hours per week.
Position performs a variety of professional and technical level tasks related to EMS and FIRE services delivery, training, and documentation. In collaboration with the EMS Program Coordinator, plans, organizes, coordinates and implements the emergency medical services (EMS) and National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) Continuous Quality Improvement program within the Charlottesville Fire Department and provides expertise in program elements for the organization. Assists in the education, training, reporting, and support of the CFD’s EMS-FIRE Quality Improvement (QI) program. Position works under the general direction of the Battalion Chief and EMS Coordinator in Professional Standards.

Minimum Requirements:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate Degree.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a prehospital emergency medical services (EMS) or allied health profession.
- Within two months of employment, must complete the NFIRS 5.0 Self-Study course.
- Current Virginia Paramedic, National Registry Paramedic or Intermediate EMT, or Registered Nurse with prehospital experience.
- Current valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Pre-employment drug testing, Virginia Office of EMS – Fingerprinting for FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification is required.
**Effective November 1, 2021, all newly hired employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment or obtain approval of a medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. Proof of an exemption or vaccination status will be required during the pre-employment onboarding process. New employees who obtain an exemption from the vaccine mandate for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs will still be subject to the weekly testing requirement.**
