Description

Serves as manager and operating officer of the district and is responsible for the effective organization, operation, and promotion of the council program within the district. Is responsible for the development and achievement of district objectives, including the goals. Guides, mentors, and trains the volunteer chairman and commissioner of the district committee and the volunteer commissioner staff so that they can fulfill their functions. The District Executive is the District’s ambassador to the geographic community covered by the District and serves as the spokesperson for the District on behalf of the council. He or she must be a strategic thinker and communicator who inspires and motivates volunteer leaders so that they can successfully and effectively deliver the Scouting program to youth in the District. The District Executive uses independent judgement and problem solving skills to identify and carry out solutions to overcome fundraising, membership and recruitment barriers. In addition, the District Executive collaborates with other council professionals to develop council wide strategies and may mentor other District Executives to help them meet their goals and objectives.

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership to the achievement of the council’s philosophy, mission, and strategy, and to its annual objectives and goals within the district
  • Sustains and grows youth and adult membership
  • Conducts fundraising campaigns and secures donations
  • Recruits, trains and oversees volunteers to deliver Scouting programs through chartered partners
  • Acts as the operational officer of the district accepting responsibility for the success of the District
  • Recruits, develops, trains, and oversees effective volunteers to achieve success in the specific responsibility area. Ensures volunteers are delivering quality Scouting programs to charter members, youth and the community
  • Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates top-quality volunteers

Skills Required

Microsoft Office capabilities, highly organized and efficient and be a team player.

Additional Info

The position is full time and includes competitive salary, expense reimbursement, medical, dental and optical insurance.  Vehicle allowance and mileage are also offered.
