Description

We are searching for an exceptional full-time Director of Youth Engagement to build personal relation-ships with our youth and young families, re-imagine and develop our religious school programming, and build on our earth-based Judaism curriculum in conjunction with our forest school.

YOU ARE: A passionate Jewish educator who can connect with and engage youth of all ages. You have experience inspiring children and teens through experiential learning inside the classroom and in camp like settings. You are creative, confident, and compassionate. You are open-minded, a team player, and want to further develop your professional skills as part of a dynamic synagogue staff. You bring the magic of what happens at Jewish summer camp to a year-long program.

 

Job Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES: As Director of Youth Engagement, you will:

  • Build personal relationships with synagogue children, teens, and their families. This will take place both inside the synagogue and at our Forest School.
  • Plan, innovate, and lead teen-related activities, including our Wednesday night
    Hebrew School, Youth Group, and Sunday Student Teacher Program
  • Re-imagine and re-design Sunday youth and family programming
  • Inspire and collaborate with teachers around Jewish education
  • Lead Hebrew High program
  • In collaboration with Rabbi, Director of Education, and Director of Religious School plan family programming, and holiday and festival services
  • Develop after school outdoor education programs for upper elementary and teens in collaboration with Forest School
  • Connect with local, regional, and national Jewish youth movements (NFTY)
  • Co-direct summer camp

Skills Required

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • BA required, preferably with a major or minor in education and/or Jewish studies.
    • MA or MEd a plus.
  • Experience in Jewish camping
    • Songleading a bonus
  • Self-starter, strong organizational and communication skills, ability to connect with and mentor teens

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, including Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings

Additional Info

The Director of Youth Engagement reports to the Director of Education and will work closely with the professional staff team. This is a full-time position, including health benefits and ideally suited to someone who is open to working in a variety of learning environments.
