Description
C4K is looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded Director of Operations (DO) with experience developing a performance culture on a diverse, talented program team. The DO must be an inspiring and execution-oriented leader who is able to help others at C4K deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make our vision a reality.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the DO will drive key operational and administrative functions to ensure C4K has the infrastructure needed to continue the organization’s success and impact. The DO will oversee the day-to-day activities of the organization, ensuring that the organization is well managed, appropriately resourced, and performing efficiently and effectively. The DO will have responsibility for the following areas: Strategic Leadership; Human Resources; Finance and Development; Technology; and Operations.
This is a new role at C4K and the incumbent will have the unique opportunity to work with the ED to shape and refine their objectives as the needs of the organization become more clear and visible.
Job Duties
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Provide programmatic leadership and input to the ED and staff regarding strategic plan development and implementation
- Track and report on the progress of the strategic plan implementation while supporting a success-oriented environment
- Serve as the internal leader of the organization (with the ED primarily serving as an external leader and community liaison)
- Supervise program team members and provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence for the organization
Human Resources
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, collaboration, and a commitment to quality
- Lead, develop, support, and empower members of the team
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals and facilitate annual performance evaluations
- Oversee equitable, operationally sound, and legally compliant hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination processes for program staff, ensuring C4K has the human capital it needs to fulfill its mission
- Assess, manage and administer benefits (including paid and unpaid leave, health insurance, 401(k), etc.), coordinating with staff and benefit providers
Finance and Development
- Manage the annual operating budget to maintain financial health while maximizing impact
- Coordinate with grant writers to draft grant proposals and to ensure timely submission of grants and grant reports
- Implement a plan to track grant outcomes (see Operations, below)
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to author and send funder program updates
Technology
- Manage the organization’s hardware, software, databases, and networks
- Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology that support the growth of specific programs and the organization overall
Operations
- Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which C4K’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identify opportunities for improvement
- Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
- Lead the organizational performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against organizational goals
- Identify leading practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and financial sustainability
- Supervise C4K’s risk management and compliance responsibilities, implementing policies and systems that ensure the organization is in full compliance with state and federal requirements
- Project a positive image of the organization to employees, members and their parents, mentors, and the community
- Manage the C4K facility
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills Required
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Prior experience in a community serving organization, preferably in a leadership role
- Prior experience working with youth highly preferred
- 10-15 years prior experience in human resources, operations, or a related field
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- High emotional intelligence
- Superlative attention to detail
