POSITION: Chief Engagement Officer
PROGRAM: Administrative
STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
The Chief Engagement Officer is a member of the Executive Leadership team and leads the agency in marketing, internal and external communications, public relations, organizational culture, strategic projects, community events, and legislative advocacy and grows the organization’s capacity through development strategies and home finding efforts. The Chief Engagement Officer leads, guides, and directs all major internal and external engagement areas as assigned by the CEO/President. This person is able to represent the organization well in the community and work collaboratively in all settings.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
The Chief Engagement Officer supervises the Director of Development, the Director of Marketing, and the Administrative Assistant of Engagement. The Chief Engagement Officer reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

PLANNING:
Lead, guide, delegate, and direct all major areas of marketing: public and media relations, communication, branding, community events, legistative advocacy, and recruitment of foster care and sponsored residential homes
Lead, guide, and direct internal engagement projects to advance the agency’s values, facilitate effective communication, and promote a healthy culture
Lead, guide, and direct all major areas of development: research and prospect identification, cultivation, and communication strategies, solicitation strategies, donor stewardship, database management, communications and outreach activities, and development-related volunteer relations
Ensure the organization is represented well internally and externally, as well as establish and maintain good relationships with our media and communication partners
Work with division and organization leadership teams to identify specific areas of advocacy, marketing, internal engagement, and development needs
Provide leadership, supervision, and oversight for marketing and development staff and work collaboratively with all departments on organizational projects
Develop and adhere to an annual engagement budget to ensure proper use of the organization’s funds in a cost-effective, sustainable manner
Serve as an exemplary advocate for DePaul in the community with local leaders, religious organizations, business and corporate partnerships, and other leaders, and build relationships that closely link the community to the organization
Ensure open communication to create a community, inform and reinforce values and connections, and promote a greater understanding of DePaul’s services, standing in the community, and fiscal sustainability
Ensure effective methods of communication with stakeholders, designing regular, meaningful interactions both in and outside the organization
Facilitate engagement initiatives with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate projects, scheduling, and prioritization that support the mission, build efficiencies, and are fiscally reasonable as assigned
TEAM DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP:
Hire, supervise, and ensure professional development (including any discipline or performance improvement plans) for all marketing and development staff and develop a strong sense of team within the marketing and development departments
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvements that values learning and a commitment to quality
OPERATIONS:
Ensure alignment of strategic and tactical operations within the department and serve as an active and contributing member of the Executive Leadership team
Ensure accountability to results through regular monitoring and reporting of department data
Achieve financial objectives by preparing the annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and estimating ROI
Coordinate media and legislative interests in the organization and ensure regular contact with target audiences
Skills Required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
A Bachelor’s Degree with five years of demonstrated excellence in supervising and managing teams and success in marketing, public and media relations, communications, organizational development, and/or fundraising is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee in this position must meet, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the essential functions successfully. Physical activities required are finger dexterity necessary to operate equipment used in the position, effective communication and seeing or hearing verbal cues. Walking from one-third to two-thirds of the time, sitting two-thirds or more of the time, standing from one-third to two-thirds of the time, bending from one-third to two-thirds of the time, stooping rarely, lifting/pushing/pulling no more than ten pounds are required. When accessing various locations, the incumbent must climb stairs and ramps. This position requires driving to various locations approximately five percent of the employee’s working time.
